Chinook Equipment Renovation

Project Overview

Located in Nisku, Alberta, the Chinook Equipment Renovation project involved the transformation of an existing warehouse into a functional, modernized parts and service facility. The work focused on targeted interior upgrades, mechanical improvements, and structural modifications to meet evolving operational needs.

Atkinson Construction (ACL) delivered the project under a Construction Management model, working closely with the client, architect, and engineering consultants to ensure coordinated execution, cost control, and minimal disruption during the renovation.

Scope of Work

Interior Reconfiguration

Selective demolition and interior construction were completed to create a new parts and service area, tailored to Chinook Equipment’s operational workflows.

New Overhead Door & Wash Bay Curtain

A new overhead door was installed to improve access and equipment flow, while a wash bay curtain system was added to safely isolate cleaning operations within the shop.

Building Envelope & Openings

Installation of new doors, windows, and a plywood infill wall replaced outdated or underused openings, improving security, natural light, and energy efficiency.

Mechanical Upgrades

Targeted mechanical scope included HVAC improvements and system modifications to support reconfigured spaces and ensure occupant comfort.

Electrical Improvements

Electrical upgrades supported the new layout, including LED lighting, service adjustments, and reconnections for relocated shop and office components.

Perimeter Fencing

A section of new chain link fencing was installed to improve site security and control yard access for service vehicles and equipment.

Efficient & Quality Driven Renovation

By working collaboratively with all stakeholders and maintaining a flexible delivery model, Atkinson Construction successfully delivered a high-functioning renovation that enhances the long-term usability of Chinook Equipment’s Nisku facility. The project showcases ACL’s ability to execute efficient, quality-driven renovations within active industrial environments.
